Common Conditions and Our Scope of Services
Hand Surgery and Elbow Surgery
Treatment of Tendon Entrapments
Treatment of Tendon Entrapments
For instance, ring ligament release for trigger finger and tendon sheath release in cases of De Quervain's tenosynovitis.
Treatment of Nerve Compression Syndromes
Treatment of Nerve Compression Syndromes
Such as carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapment, etc.
Therapy for Persistent Overuse Syndromes
Therapy for Persistent Overuse Syndromes
Despite conservative treatment, such as tennis or golfer's elbow, irritation of tendons and tendon attachments at the wrist, e.g., carpal bossing.
Arthroscopy of the wrist
Arthroscopy of the wrist
For diagnosis and therapy in cases of wear or injuries of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC, wrist disc), ligament injuries or cartilage damage in the carpal bones, e.g., with removal of the inflamed joints capsule, cartilage, ligaments and disc degeneration, disc suturing, reaming of the ulnar head, etc. For certain conditions, we also perform arthroscopy of the thumb saddle joint, forearm rotation joint, etc.
Arthroscopy of the Elbow Joint
Arthroscopy of the Elbow Joint
In cases of tennis elbow, for removal of loose bodies in the joint, ablation of disturbing bone spurs or an irritating synovial fold, clarification of collateral ligament damage, removal of inflamed joint lining in case of irritation, rheumatism, proliferation, etc.
Ulnar Impaction
Ulnar Impaction
Therapy for pressure damage on the wrist caused by an overlong ulna (ulna impaction), depending on the stage, with arthroscopy, disc restoration, cartilage smoothing, shortening of the ulna bone, or removal of the ulnar head.
Ligament Injuries in Finger and Thumb Joints
Ligament Injuries in Finger and Thumb Joints
Treatment of ligament injuries in finger and thumb joints acutely (e.g., skier's thumb), but also in cases of failed conservative therapy or chronic instability.
Wrist Ligament Injuries
Wrist Ligament Injuries
Treatment of wrist ligament injuries, such as those in the carpal bones (e.g., the "SL-band" between the scaphoid and lunate bones) or the forearm rotation joint (e.g., tear of the TFCC or ulnar styloid process).
Lateral Ligament Injuries at the Elbow
Lateral Ligament Injuries at the Elbow
In acute injuries or chronic instability.
Injury to Flexor and Extensor Tendons
Injury to Flexor and Extensor Tendons
Acute treatment after injury. Also, treatment of chronic lesions or complications after surgery by removal of adhesions, reconstruction of annular ligaments (pulley), tendon reconstruction by tendon grafting, or transfer.
Corrective Bone Surgiers
Corrective Bone Surgiers
Of bones and joints in case of deformities following injury, malgrowth or congenital conditions, including Madelung's deformity, potentially using computer-assisted 3D planning.
Non-union of Fractures (Pseudarthrosis)
Non-union of Fractures (Pseudarthrosis)
Reconstructions in case of non-union of fractures (pseudarthrosis) with bone transplantation, if needed, with vascular connection (vascularized), especially frequent in the scaphoid and forearm. Stimulation of bone healing through high-energy, focused shock wave therapy.
Blood Circulation Disorders in Bones
Blood Circulation Disorders in Bones
In hand and wrist bones or at the elbow, therapy by drilling or restoration of joint surfaces by bone-cartilage grafts from the ribs or the leg with the vascular connection. The most common is Kienböck's disease (lunate bone necrosis), treatment depending on the stage through arthroscopy, removing of nerve branches to the joint, radial shortening, temporary fixation of the wrist for lunate bone relief, removal of the first row of wrist bones, or (partial) fusion of the wrist.
Motion Restrictions in Finger, Hand, Forearm Rotation, and Elbow Joints
Motion Restrictions in Finger, Hand, Forearm Rotation, and Elbow Joints
Joint and tendon release, metal removal and bone corrections in case of motion restrictions in finger, hand, forearm rotation, and elbow joints.
Damage to Nerves
Damage to Nerves
Treatment in case of nerve damage due to injury, adhesions, tumor, birth injury, etc., through nerve release (neurolysis), nerve transfer, microscopic nerve suturing, reconstruction of nerves through grafts, and tendon and nerve transfers to restor muscle functions.
Microsurgical Restoration
Microsurgical Restoration
We address acute injuries and chronic blood vessel occlusions or dilatations (aneurysms) through microsurgical restorations, including reimplantations.
Soft Tissue Defects
Soft Tissue Defects
Restoration is offered for soft tissue defects following injuries, inflammations, or circulation disorders through tissue transplants, such as skin grafts, flap surgeries with a vascular pedicle, or free transplants microsurgically connected.

Childhood Deformities
Childhood Deformities
We offer advice and therapy for childhood deformities, such as double thumbs or extra fingers, fusion of fingers (syndactyly), missing/underdeveloped fingers or thumbs, and misgrowth or misalignment of fingers or the wrist (e.g., club hand). Possible treatments include removal of extra digits, separation of syndactyly, toe or toe joint transplantation, correction of misalignments, and bone lengthening.
Acute Pain Syndromes
Acute Pain Syndromes
We treat acute pain syndromes following injuries or surgeries (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome = CRPS) with multimodal pain therapy, e.g., with temporary pain catheters, blockade of the cervical ganglia, etc., and hand therapy.
Hand Therapy
Hand Therapy
Our hand therapy offers a comprehensive treatment consisting of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Our treatment spectrum includes acute patients and patients in the early postoperative phase. Furthermore, we provide inpatient follow-up treatment (BGSW), extended outpatient physiotherapy (EAP), and the occupation-related test procedure "EFL" (Evaluation of functional capacity) for patients insured with professional associations.
In addition to regular therapy times during the week, if deemed medically necessary, we offer physiotherapy or occupational therapy treatment for our inpatient patients on weekends and holidays. Moreover, our patients can conduct self-training daily from 8.00 am - 4.00 pm in the hand therapy rooms, in which they will be individually instructed at the beginning of therapy.
We would happily inform you about our post-treatment concepts and our clinic's hand therapy facilities. Please get to know our hand therapy team here.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation
In addition to the acute area, we provide rehabilitation within a statutory accident insurance inpatient follow-up treatment (BGSW) framework. We are the only rehabilitation department solely specialized in the consequences of hand injuries and hand diseases. Particularly after complex injuries and elaborate operations to improve hand function, success largely depends on specialized post-treatment. In severe cases, this is only possible in an inpatient and interdisciplinary manner. The main focus of these rehabilitation measures is hand therapy. We use special therapy procedures to regain the strength, mobility, and function of the hand and produce splints and other aids. Our occupational therapy and physiotherapy departments offer a wide variety of therapy options.
